Guidelines issued to not appoint any personnel within their hometowns

RAWALPINDI: After the inter-divisional and inter-district change of inspectors all over Punjab, including Rawalpindi, the muharrars - or report writers of police stations - will also be changed as a measure to ensure free and fair elections.

The muharrars listen to the complainant and write the complaint in Urdu, therefore they have an integral role in police system.

After the change of muharrars, the establishment office of Punjab police has issued guidelines not to appoint any personnel within their hometowns.

According to sources, massive change in terms of transfers in Punjab police is underway in order to ensure the arrangement of free and fair elections, different policies have been chalked out on the rank basis.

After the transfer of the Inspector General of Punjab Police, including additional IG and divisional and district police officers, 1,308 sub-inspectors across Punjab will also be changed on range basis.

In this regard, the notification issued by additional IG establishment Punjab Azhar Hameed to regional city and district heads of police stations all over Punjab says that muharrars in all the stations must be changed.

“This measure should be immediately implemented,” the notification read.

Moreover, it should be ensured that in any circle, the resident of the same circle should not be posted, the notification added.

Similarly the regions and districts have been told to send suggestion in this regard so that proper permission should be obtained.

Meanwhile, orders to appoint former CPO Rawalpindi Afzaal Ahmed Kausar as personal staff officer of IG Punjab have been issued.

He has also been handed over the charge of additional IG admin and security CPO Punjab. Consequently awaiting appointment, Ghulam Mustafa has been appointed as SP VVIP security special branch Rawalpindi.
