Vaccine unavailable for dog attack victims in Rahim Yar Khan

Two attacked, injured by stray dogs in district

RAHIM YAR KHAN: At least two people were attacked and injured by stray dogs in Rahim Yar Khan on Monday.

Residents told Express News that victim Junaid Bhatti was grazing his cattle in Rukanpur area when stray dogs attacked him. As a result, he suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital.

However, he could not be administered the rabies vaccine as it was unavailable. His condition was stated to be critical.

Similarly, stray dogs also attacked a woman in the area and injured her. The woman was reportedly shifted to the health facility but was unable to get treatment due to lack of medicines and the rabies vaccine.



Meanwhile, locals told Express News that stray dogs had been roaming in the area for some time and had bitten many people in the past. They added the people had lodged several complaints regarding the attacks but the district health authorities had turned a deaf ear to their complaints.

They demanded that the government register a case against the district officials and take action against them for their negligence in controlling the increasing number of cases.

Earlier, at least 24 people, including children, were attacked and injured by stray dogs in Rahim Yar Khan. Official statistics revealed that 50 people have died of stray dog attacks, while several were injured over two years in the district.
