MMA conducts power show in Peshawar

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Sirajul Haq said that MMA would be successful just like ‘Erdogan in Turkey’

PESHAWAR: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has destroyed the provincial economy.

MMA on Sunday evening conducted its rally on Ring Road Peshawar since its restructuring. Thousands of supporters and activists of the religious political parties which became a part of the alliance came to participate in the rally.

Addressing the rally the Maulana Fazlur Rehman bashed his political opponents for spreading vulgarity and vowed to stop them from what he called ‘heinous motives’. "People have to prove in the elections that they are against vulgarity. Our respect is at stake and international forces want to enslave us again," he said.

Rehman said that they are fighting to save their culture from being destroyed. "Opponents want to legitimize liquor and interest in the country and remove ban on it," he said adding that they will not deceive public with pseudo green postures.

He criticized the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government for putting burden of loans on the province. “During the government of MMA, the loans were at Rs87 billion and now it has crossed Rs300 billion,” he said.

Rehman said that they raised every issue and fought for it in the parliament which they discussed in public. "There is nothing which we said in public but did not discuss it in the parliament.”

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief and Vice President of MMA Sirajul Haq in his address criticized the caretaker government for approving loans. He congratulated the people of Peshawar for holding a successful rally and called for good times to come.

"This rally is a message for the people of Pakistan that the future of the country is bright," he said adding “MMA would be victorious in Pakistan just like the victory of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey and vulgarity will be defeated.” Both Sirajul Haq and Fazlur Rehman congratulated the people of Turkey for re-electing Erdogan.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that MMA has the Holly Quran as its manifesto and Madina is their model of government.

"Our government will have Islamic Shariah as its system and their leadership will make Pakistan and clean country since no one in the MMA is named in Panama scam."  He said that former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf destroyed the laws using force.

He criticized other political parties for awarding party tickets to what he called ‘Lottas’. "We don't need ‘Lottas’ in Pakistan. Tickets are given to those who should be put in jails."

With regards to their plans after coming into power Sirajul Haq said that they will prioritize education and had already given priority to education in their tenure in 2002.  "More than 15 million children are deprived of education and we will give preference to education in our government like we did in the past," he said adding that they will give allowances to unemployed youth and will also start allowances for senior citizens.

He said that the caretaker government does not have the mandate to take loans but it has taken Rs12 billion loan in its first week.  He added that they would end loadshedding in the country and criticised the federal government for carrying loadshedding in K-P, which generates cheapest electricity and has the potential to generate 45,000 megawatt electricity.

Former K-P chief minister and Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (F) leader Akram Khan Durrani in his speech criticized former K-P government of PTI for turning it into a graveyard in five years. He accused Imran Khan of corruption in K-P and vowed that MMA will not let them come back. "We will defeat Imran Niazi and will force him to leave for London,” Durrani said.

JI leader Liaquat Baloch said that MMA is the focus of people's hopes and their election symbol, "book," will bring Islamic revolution in Pakistan.
