HYDERABAD: The families and neighbours of six persons of the Lashari clan, who were shot dead on Friday in Dadu district, staged a sit-in on Indus Highway on Sunday, blocking vehicular traffic on the major thoroughfare. The protesters demanded the arrest of the killers.

The B-Section police had lodged an FIR on Saturday under the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of Ikhtiar Ali Lashari, a brother of one of the slain persons, Mashooq Lashari.

Mir Hassan Mari, Mohammed Bux Mari, Mir Gul Mari, Bakht Jamal Mari and four other persons have been nominated in the FIR. The complainant claimed that the accused had killed the six men over a dispute pertaining to land and money.

The incident occurred outside a local court in Dadu district when the slain persons, Mashooq, Hamzo Lashari, Mithal Lashari, Khadim Lashari, Hidayatullah Lashari and his son Shahid Lashari, were returning from a hearing.

The protesters also demanded on Sunday the arrest of ASI Umar Panhwar and A-Section SHO Rana Nasrullah. They alleged that the two policemen were in collusion with the killers and they had even lodged a fake FIR against the slain men of the Lashari clan.

The protesters ended the sit-in after Dadu SSP Tanveer Tunio assured them that the police would take action against the perpetrators. Later, the police conducted a raid in Sher Muhammad Mari village and arrested seven persons, some of whom were nominated in the FIR.

The SSP also suspended the SHOs of both A-Section and B-Section police stations. The incharges of the Criminal Investigation Agency centres in Dadu and Mehar, Khadim Hussain Bhatti and Iftikhar Ahmed Jamali, were also removed from their positions.
