Law minister pledges smooth transition of tribal areas into mainstream

Syed Ali Zafar promises to undertake administrative, financial and judicial steps in this regard

ISLAMABAD: The interim Minister for Law and Justice Syed Ali Zafar on Saturday said all immediate administrative, financial and judicial steps must be undertaken for the mainstreaming of the tribal regions into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

All long-term guidelines should be adhered to and the merger's implementation process must be made smooth and successful at all costs, added Zafar, while chairing a meeting of the committee tasked with facilitating the merger of tribal areas with K-P.

The minister also emphasised on the need of resolving administrative, legal, financial and legislative issues impeding smooth transition.

The law minister further constituted two sub-committees comprising officials from the ministries of law, interior and finance to draft rules and regulations aimed at facilitating the merger process.

According to reports, the sub-committees are tasked with suggesting viable solutions to various administrative and legal issues surrounding the merger during the next meeting.

The additional chief secretary K-P also apprised the minister on the status of rehabilitation of Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs) in the region to their respective areas.
