Irfan’s wife Nageena Bibi, 30, suffered burn injuries from head to torso and is under treatment in the burn unit of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims). The incident took place at a house where she was working as a maid. After tracking her down Irfan poured a bottle of acid on her head and fled from the scene.
She was rushed to the hospital where after regaining conscience she told the police that Irfan was a drug addict and was jobless for months. Despite her efforts she had failed to convince him to quiet drugs. Nageena finally got a separation and filed for divorce.
“He wanted me to withdraw my appeal for divorce which I refused”. During the initial interrogation, Irfan had cited the same motives behind his gruesome act. He was Nageena’s second husband. Her four children were taken in possession by her first husband who lives in Multan.
