SI Abdul Samad Khilji and his uncle Wazir Khan were on their way to the city when targeted by armed motorcyclists. Khilji is an investigation officer in Jinnah Town Police Station.

Rescue workers and security forces rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to Civil Hospital.

Later, SI Khilji was shifted to Combine Military Hospital (CMH) due to his critical injuries, but the doctors there confirmed he was out of danger, said DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema.

He said the security forces did put up a chase, but the attackers fled taking advantage of the public rush in the area. The hunt was, however, underway, he added.
