‘Projects worth Rs3.58m nearing completion’

DC says teachers who do not work should be named and shamed

SARGODHA: Deputy Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha has said that five projects, with an investment of Rs3.58 million, are nearing completion in Sargodha. Besides, 35 projects, including the rural health centre in Lalyani, have been upgraded to a centrally air-conditioned facility at an added cost of Rs1.5 million.

He said this during a ceremony at Government Boys High School on Wednesday. Social activists, government officials and others were present on the occasion. The deputy commissioner said that the construction of Lahore-Sargodha Road, as well as middle and high school upgradation, had been carried out with the most advanced technology.

He added a 100-bed trauma centre will be constructed in Sargodha. The deputy commissioner maintained, “The government is spending millions on restructuring schools; it is the responsibility of the people to ensure that these funds are spent on educational institutions.”

He said, “If a teacher does not work, he should be named and punished to maintain a quality of education.”  Chatha pointed out that Rs730,000 had been spent on renovations at the middle school.

“As part of a scheme, there will be two classrooms along with the construction of a connecting street. Besides, there will be five more rooms added to the school and washrooms which will cost Rs412,000.”

Similarly, the DC elaborated that the girl’s primary school will be given the status of a middle school and its renovation will cost around Rs630,000.
