KARACHI: A teenage boy killed another youth over a petty issue at Old Sabzi Mandi on Wednesday.

Police officials said the incident took place when the victim, identified as 14-year-old Muhammad Shafiq, son of Raj Muhammad, had a scuffle with 14-year-old Masood, son of Nadir, over buying a roll in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 14 within the limits of the Mobina Town police station.

SHO Hikmatullah said the deceased used to sell BBQ at Kashmiri Kabab House and the incident took place when the accused, who used to work at a nearby teashop, came to buy a roll and a scuffle between them occured over delaying.

Masood took an iron rod and hit Shafiq, the SHO said.
The deceased died on the spot and his body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Police reached the site and arrested Masood, who confessed to the crime.

Shafiq's body was handed over to the family for burial, while a case was registered. Further investigation is under way.
