Woman succumbs to burn injuries

Police handed over the body to victim’s relatives after legal formalities

MULTAN: A woman, who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband, breathed her last at Nishtar Hospital on Tuesday.

Police said on June 14, Mujahid Iqbal, a resident of Taunsa, had an argument with his wife Jamila when she demanded money to buy Eid clothes for her children. When the argument escalated, Mujahid was enraged and set his wife on fire. As a result, Jamila suffered severe burn injuries. She was shifted to Nishtar Hospital’s burns unit for treatment. However, after struggling between life and death for five days, she finally succumbed to injuries.

The police handed over the body to the victim’s relatives after legal formalities were completed. However, no FIR has been registered against the accused.

In another incident, a woman was found dead in Tibba Sultan Pur. Police said Rabia, a resident of Chak No 329-WB, married Noman of her own choice a few days back. However, on Tuesday, her bullet-riddled body was found from her house.
