Teenager crushed by state minister’s procession

The vehicle of Federal Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram of the PML-Q crushed a man to death in Faisalabad.

FAISALABAD:

The protocol squad for State Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram crushed and killed a young boy near Thikriwala on Jhang Road on Sunday.

According to witnesses, Sheikh Waqas Akram, was going to his native town Jhang via Faisalabad. The minister’s squad, along with vehicles of private and police gunmen reached near Thikriwala on Jhang Road when they crashed into a motorcycle. The impact killed 15-year-old Imran Ahmed, who died on the spot. Eye-witnesses claimed that Imran’s motorcycle was hit by a vehicle of the state minister’s private guards and later the minister’s vehicle ran over the body. Locals in the area have protested against the state minister by placing Imran Anjum’s body in the middle of the road and blocking traffic. Minister Waqas Akram claimed that the motorcyclist was hit by police van in his squad and there was no private protocol vehicle in his squad.

Safdar Abbas | 13 years ago | Reply This is what we call yellow journalism. Guys for God sake do some research before making a sweeping statement. First of all minister's car did not hit the boy. Boy was hit by a white suzuki van from behind and after he was hit he slipped and came in front of a police vehicle which was escorting the minister.Minister stopped on the road for 45 minutes and brought that young man to hospital. Later on he condoled with the family and offered the family and media that the official driver of Police van should be arrested , family of deceased refused to register the case as they thought that poor Police driver had no enmity with their son. Minister offered them financial help which family refused to accept. Police is after that white van...minister gave his clarification to the media on express channel and condemned media on express channel for misreporting...............
