List of electoral candidates to be issued today as scrutiny process ends

Election commissioner says 435 vying for 16 NA seats, while 1,400 for provincial assembly seats

QUETTA: Balochistan Election Commissioner Niaz Ahmad Baloch said the first phase of general elections 2018, comprising nomination papers submission and scrutiny procedure, would be completed in Balochistan on Tuesday in line with the other provinces.

He said that the scrutiny process had started on June 12 and “today [Tuesday] is its last date”.

A total of 435 nomination papers were collected for 16 National Assembly seats in Balochistan, while 1,400 nomination papers were collected for 51 constituencies of the Provincial Assembly.

Two-hundred and eight nomination forms were submitted for the reserved seats of women and minorities in the provincial assembly and National Assembly.

The Election Commission of Pakistan offices received 36 nomination papers for four reserved seats of women in the National Assembly and 116 for the 11 reserved seats of women in provincial assembly.

And 56 nomination forms were collected for the three seats reserved for the minorities in the provincial assembly.

The ECP would complete the process of scrutiny for all the submitted nomination papers by Tuesday, according to the new schedule.
The list of candidates will also be issued today (Wednesday).
