Unidentified girl gives 'Eid hugs' in Moradabad

A video of an unidentified girl hugging young men outside a shopping mall in Moradabad, India went viral on social media, The Times of India reported.

The girl reportedly hugged almost 50 people who waited in queue for their turn, with security officials of the shopping mall stating that nobody objected receiving a hug from the girl.

The girl was offering hugs as a celebratory Eid gesture, while another girl accompanying the first girl was seen counting the number of hugs and cheering with the crowd.

The episode went on for more than 10 minutes with the gathered audience making videos and clicking selfies with the girl.

While a 22-year-old, who received a hug from the girl, described the incident as a great surprise, saying that “ We did not expect a young woman in Moradabad to offer hugs to male strangers on Eid,” such an incident being an unusual occurring in a Muslim society.

The identity of the girl is unknown so far, however, a CCTV footage showed that she was accompanied by two other girls, according to a mall security officer.

While SHO Civil Lines Police station, Ajeet Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the matter, after viewing the video that went viral on social media.

The mall management however, has denied all responsibility for organising any such event where the incident occurred.
