Four more members added to Punjab cabinet

Punjab interim Chief Minister Hasan Askari has decided to expand its cabinet by inducting four more members.

The new cabinet members are expected to take oath later in the day.

The oath will be administered by Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana at a ceremony scheduled for 3:00pm at the Governor House.

The new members include Saeedullah Babar, Sardar Ilyas Itanve, Nauman Kabir and Chaudhary Faisal Mushtaq Their induction will bring the number of cabinet members to 10.


Portfolios for the newly chosen cabinet members include; Kabir as minister for labour and human resource and local development transport, Babar will be heading minister for housing and physical planning, Ilyas has been given agriculture and planning and development portfolio and Mushtaq will be the education minister.

ECP selects Hassan Askari as caretaker Punjab CM

On June 11, former privatisation commission consultant Waqas Riaz, former chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Zafar Mahmood, former Inspector-General of Punjab Shaukat Javed, and former provincial minister of excise and taxation Zia Haider Rizvi and two former presidents of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Anjum Nisar and Jawwad Sajid took oath for the provincial cabinet.

Rizvi was given the position of the provincial minister for excise and taxation, Javed is the interim provincial interior minister while Mahmood has been given the responsibility of ministry of energy and power. Sajid is given the portfolio of health minister and Nisar heading the minerals ministry.
