McIlroy won the fifth to cut the gap, but McDowell was two up again on the short next.

CASARES:
US Open champion Graeme McDowell comfortably saw off fellow Ulsterman and Ryder Cup partner Rory McIlroy in the last-16 of the Volvo World Match Play Championship. McDowell jumped into an early lead when McIlroy three-putted the first and then fell two down after hitting into the lake on the long third. McIlroy won the fifth to cut the gap, but McDowell was two up again on the short next. The world number six praised the high quality of competition witnessed in the match. “It was great to win a quality match,” said McDowell.
