Germany took an early lead over defending champions Argentina in the World Team Cup final after Florian Mayer sealed a straight-sets win over Juan Monaco. Mayer saw off the Argentine 7-6, 6-0. After the first set was decided by a tie-breaker, Mayer demolished Monaco in the second. Germany is bidding to win the cup for the first time since 2005, when they beat Argentina.
