Eve-teasers beat, harass couple

Culprits use offensive language and drag woman by her hair

A couple was allegedly beaten and harassed by eve-teasers in Rahim Yar Khan on Tuesday.

Police told Express News that Roma Amir, a resident of Bhel Nagar, lodged a complaint at the police station in which she stated that she along with her husband was travelling to a shopping centre on a motorcycle when accused named Bami and Anjum Iqbal started teasing her.

The culprits used offensive and filthy language that enraged her husband, she stated. She added that when her husband confronted the eve-teasers, they started beating and abusing them. The offenders also dragged her by the hair and injured them badly, he said.

The woman stated that in the meanwhile, a large crowd gathered on the spot and saved them from the suspects. She said that after the incident the accused persons fled the scene.

The police have registered a case against the culprits and conducted raids to arrest them.

Earlier, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) local leader was harassed and injured after the party's newly elected interim president Shehbaz Sharif addressed a packed audience in Pattoki. The woman was shoved and injured as the audience started dispersing following the Punjab chief minister's speech. She also complained of being cursed by men around her.

Later, one of the accused identified as Mohsin was arrested by police.
