Case has been registered, investigation under way: Police
PESHAWAR:
A Customs official was martyred while another was injured when they were thrown out of a vehicle and then subsequently overrun by a bus on the Pir Zakori Flyover on Sunday morning.
A Chamkani police station officer told The Express Tribune that Inspector Shakir, in charge of a Custom’s mobile squad, was deputed on the Grand Trunk Road (GT Road) when they stopped a bus (bearing registration numbers Z-6966) for checking.
“It was found to be full of smuggled goods and they asked two occupants of the bus to take the vehicle to the Customs House so that a case could be registered,” the police officer said, adding that initially, the occupants of the bus complied. However, when they reached the Pir Zakori flyover, the driver and his helper threw the two Customs officials, Constables Irfanullah and Roohullah, out of the vehicle and attempted to flee.

“Irfanullah was badly injured and then a speeding vehicle hit him, killing him on the spot while Roohullah was injured,” he said, adding that police have managed to apprehend the driver of the bus, Taj Wali.
Moreover, the driver and the six owners of the bus including Akhtar Ali, Gul Agha, Noor Wali and three others have been booked for murder.
“This is simple murder FIR and there is no terrorism section included,” he explained.
