I am thrilled to be representing Pakistan on an international platform: Syra Shahroz
Shahroz's film 'Chalay Thay Saath' will be screening at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Film Festival
KARACHI:
Actor Syra Shahroz’s debut film Chalay Thay Saath will be screened at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival.
The film, which released last year in Pakistan, received a lot of praise for its breathtaking visuals and captivating storyline. Although Chalay Thay Saath gathered mixed reviews from film critics, it did pretty well at the box office.
The Kent Leung-starrer will be representing our nation in the Infocus programme as well as the FilmMart expo. Pakistan is one of the 12 countries that have been invited to participate in the SCO festival. The film selection was carried out by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Syra expressed her sentiments regarding Chalay Thay Saath being chosen for a neighbouring country's festival. “This film is very close to my heart and always will be," said the Project Ghazi actor.
She continued, "From full house screening in Hong Kong to getting selected in several film festivals, it’s done tremendously well post it’s Pakistan release. One of those festivals was the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Film Festival. Now, it's making its way to the SCO film festival in China and I’m super thrilled to be representing Pakistan on an international platform.”
Chalay Thay Saath review: A beautifully bad film
Previously, the film played to a full house at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in the city’s Tony Wan Chai district which was held on March 20, 2018.
The SCO film festival will be held in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province from June 13 to June 17, 2018.
