Bharucha wants equal representation of provinces in Railway board

Railways Minister Roshan Khursheed Bharucha on Friday directed to provide special discounts to elderly citizens on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

The decision came during a meeting Bharucha chaired in Islamabad. She also asked for provision of equal representation to all provinces in Railway Board.

The interim minister was briefed about railway operations in the entire country by Planning Director General Mazhar Ali Shah at Ministry of Railways.

She was informed about organizational structure of Pakistan Railways (PR). She asked to give equal representation to all provinces in the Railway Board.  She was briefed about ML I, ML II and ML III and also told the railways faced its worst time during 2012-2013.


The minister was briefed about public-private partnership in Pakistan Railways. She applauded customer facilitation activities including punctuality, cleanliness, train lighting and E-ticketing. She was told that Pakistan Railways is given priority in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Ministry of Railways Chairman Javed Anwar on this occasion stated that Pakistan Railways has reached its highest ever revenue in last 3 years due to teamwork. This was appreciated by the caretaker minister.

The meeting was also attended by Railway Board Secretary Farukh Taimur Ghilzai, Planning DG Mazhar Ali Shah, Technical DG Munawar Ali Shah, Operations DG Maryam Gillani and Finance member Faisal Ismaeli.
