Child killed, 12 hurt as playground train derails

A child was killed while 12 others were injured when a kids train in a local play-land derailed on Friday afternoon

A child was killed while 12 others were injured when a kids train, installed in a local play-land derailed on Friday afternoon.

According to officials, with school having ended for summer vacations, students had flocked to the Lady Garden Playland in Abbottabad, especially to a train there.

However, during the ride, the train derailed. As a result, at least 13 children were injured.

Police and rescue 1122 with the help of local peoples shifted the injured to the hospitals.


Five of these had to be shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. They were identified as Hashir, Perveen, Rida, Musa and Suhail. They all hail from Rawalpindi and Islamabad and were on holidays in Abbottabad with their relatives at Abbottabad.

Seven other injured were shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex where eight-year-old Waseem succumbed to his injuries.

The Cantonment police registered a case against the manager of the playland Junaid and operator Naeem Gul under sections 322 and 337-L.
