Political administration in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) has imposed a three-month ban on one of the agency's residents for allegedly instigating people through provocative speeches.
Mohsin Dawar, a social activist and active member of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) was considered as a threat for peace in the agency, as evident from an official statement issued on Thursday by the political administration indirectly calling Dawar an anti-state actor by stating that he was speaking against the state and state institutions.
“It has been reported that Mohsin Dawar Darpa Khail NWA is acting in a manner prejudicial to the public peace and tranquility in NWA,” the statement read, adding that ‘he is instigating people with provocative speeches against the state and the state institutions and attacked the state functionaries in the area.’

The statement also read that Dawar’s act was likely to create disturbance and harm public order in the area, creating law and order situation for the political administration, adding that it was necessary to prevent the rights activist from acting in a manner prejudicial to the public peace and tranquility.
“In exercise of the power vested in me under section 5 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 (MPO) do hereby order expulsion of Mohsin Dawar Darpa Khail from limits of NWA with immediate effect,” the statement read, adding “he [Dawar] shall not enter the NWA limits [in the next three months].”
ANP workers continue campaigning for PTM
This is not the first time Dawar has been facing expulsion as the PTM activist was expelled from heading the Awami National Party’s (ANP) youth wing National Youth Organisation (NYO) over his support towards PTM in April.
A single notification by the ANP, without having been served a show cause notice in advance to explain or be given an opportunity to defend himself, had removed him from the post. “It was a simple, three-liner notification,” Dawar told The Express Tribune on April 7, when asked to describe the contents of the notification.
Dawar had said that his crime was only to raise his voice for different issues plaguing Pashtuns but not even his friends [when he was leading ANP’s youth wing] supported him.
