LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed 11 businesses on Wednesday as they failed to meet provincial standards and maintain hygienic conditions at their workplace.

During the day-long activity, teams imposed fines worth Rs0.44 million on 45 food business operators. The purpose of the crackdown was to ensure PFA rules and regulations are being implemented, while also inspecting the quality of food being sold in markets.

Field teams were monitored by their respective operations director and operations deputy director.

Out of the 11 businesses that were sealed, two were located in the provincial capital. In separate raids, teams sealed a water filtration plant by AM Enterprises in Shahdarah for using PFA’s seal without prior permission from the authority.
