Raid: Illegal gateway exchange seized
PTA keeping a watch on international traffic coming into the country.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have conducted a successful raid in Lahore and seized a functional illegal gateway exchange.
According to details, PTA and FIA not only traced the exact location, but also carried out a raid in PMA Trade Centre in Lahore.
The confiscated illegal setup consisted of gateways, tellulars, switches, routers and SIMs of different operators.
The campaign against illegal telephony had resulted in blocking of more than 55,000 mobile SIMs along with IMEIs, PTA said. With state-of-the-art monitoring facility, PTA said it was keeping a watch on international traffic coming into the country.
The aim of monitoring is to identify illegal gateway exchanges and track the elements operating them.
