Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan claimed his party will win a 'landslide victory' in the upcoming general elections scheduled for July 25.

The PTI chairman said this during an interview in BBC's show Hard Talkadding that he is the right person to steer Pakistan forward towards a 'Naya Pakistan'.

The PTI chairman also took the opportunity to laud his party's policies in K-P and differentiate between the ruling party the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Terming the country as a "governance failure", Imran said the PML-N and PPP's tenures had weakened state institutions. "The reason we haven’t achieved our potential is that we have weak state institutions and as a result, we cannot collect enough revenues to develop our population."

The PTI chairman also mocked the PML-N and the PPP for their policies during their respective tenures, highlighting that it was due to their policies that the gap between the rich and the poor had increased considerably in the country.

Imran Khan to contest polls from three provinces


"The policies PML-N and PPP have enriched the rich and impoverished the poor," the PTI chairman said.

Imran took the opportunity to highlight his party's success in K-P, lauding his party's policies in the province and how policies implemented in K-P have strengthened important provincial institutions such as the the provincial police.

We have isolated the police from political pressure by introducing merit, as a result, the professionalism of the force has increased, Imran claimed.

The PTI chairman also responded to criticism hurled at him by rival  PML-N and PPP and said the performance of PTI's provincial government has "doubled" the vote bank of the party.

Imran also praised the role of the armed forces, saying that General Qamar Javed Bajwa is the first army chief who stands by and respects democracy and the Constitution of Pakistan.

Commenting on Pakistan's declining relationship with the United States, he said "We were hurt when Trump blamed us for United States failure in Afghanistan and we were made a scapegoat after sacrificing so much" he added.
