Around 18 ministers, five advisers to be inducted

The caretaker cabinet of the Sindh government is likely to take oath at Governor House today (Tuesday).
Sources told The Express Tribune that around 18 ministers and five advisers will be inducted to the cabinet to look after the different departments.

Among others, ministerial portfolios will be given to Shahadat Awan, former prosecutor-general who is a close friend of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Asif Ali Zardari, Ahmed Shah, president of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Justice (retd) Ghulam Sarwar, former bureaucrat Ashfaq Memon who has served as a provincial and federal secretary, Hamir Soomro, the grandson of former Sindh chief minister Allah Bux Soomro, Jabbar Memon, a businessman who has served as the vice-chairperson of Pakistan Steel Mill, Muffasar Atta Malik, president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, former commissioner Saleem Khan, Fahad Bachani, son of PPP MNA Sattar Bachani.
Meanwhile, former Inspector-General of Police Shafiq Sherwani Mushtaq Shah, Brigadier (retd) Haris, former employee of the National Accountability Bureau, Barrister Haider Waheed, industrialist Hussain Maarif Shah and Sadiq Iftikhar will also be members of the cabinet.

The name of former IG Wajid Durrani was earlier suggested by PPP leader and Durrani was supposed to get the home ministry portfolio, but due to strong opposition in the media, the party withdrew his name.
