The Balochistan Professors and Lecturers Association (BPLA) called off its protest in front of the Balochistan Assembly on former chief minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo’s assurance that their demands would be met.

The BPLA members were protesting in front of the assembly for the acceptance of their demands, which they claimed were not being met due to the carelessness of the chief secretary. Their demands included increase in salaries and provision of basic facilities.

Former MPA Zamarak Achakzai met the protesters and assured them that he would talk to the former chief minister. Achakzai came back after a while and informed the protesters that Bizenjo had agreed to accept their demands and an official notification would be issued. Finding the assurance satisfactory, they called off their protest.

Earlier, the protesters were chanting slogans against the bureaucracy. They said that they only show extra-efficiency when their “interest is involved”.
