Regional Languagues: ‘Sindhi should be given national status’
Government should move a language bill in parliament without any further delay.
KARACHI:
Sindh Minister for Culture Sassui Palijo has opposed the National Assembly (NA) standing committee on law and order’s rejection of the languages bill. “Those members who oppose the bill are not supposed to sit in the country’s parliament,” she said.
Palijo said that both land and languages are a “people’s real identity”. “If Sindhi can have a national status in India’s constitution then why can’t Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi and Pushto be given the same status in our country.” The government should move a language bill in parliament without any further delay, she added.
