Awan lambasts RDA for shoddy road repairs

PML-N MNA Malik Shakeel Awan expressed dissatisfaction over repair work.

RAWALPINDI:

Pakistan Muslim League-N MNA Malik Shakeel Awan expressed dissatisfaction over repair work being carried out on Benazir Bhutto Road by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).

Addressing a press conference at the local press club on Thursday, the MNA said he had conveyed his objections to RDA officials over the low standard of repair work done on the road between Committee Chowk and Marrir Chowk.

He said the substandard quality of the repairs on the city’s main artery was clearly visible to the naked eye. “The recently carpeted road is uneven and can be easily damaged in the near future,” he said.  “The government has decided to make a tunnel at Marrir chowk under Railway Bridge, after Railway authorities raised concerns over the increase in the road’s height because of carpeting,” Awan added.

“The tunnel would allow commuters coming from Liaquat Bagh and going to the district court to pass through the intersection without facing traffic jams,” he maintained.
