Police given month to reply on Safe City land
The police planned to construct a building for the safe city project on the plot
RAWALPINDI:
An Lahore High Court (LHC) bench on Friday gave the Punjab police a month to submit a reply as to why it was not giving up possession of land it had encroached or pay its owner its price.
Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf of LHC-Rawalpindi Bench on Friday heard a petition filed by landowner Mujahid Satti. Satti, submitting through his counsel Khurram Kaini, had contended that he had inherited 20 kanals of land which was located adjacent to CPO office. The police planned to construct a building for the safe city project on the plot.
The land had been transferred to Satti’s grandmother in 1993 on court orders and after her passing came to him. However, the police were neither vacating the encroached land nor was it paying the plaintiff its price.
On Friday, when the court resumed hearing, the Punjab police counsel requested the court to grant him time for submitting a reply in the case. At this, the court adjourned the hearing until June 21.
