PFA to award certificates to food companies

Surprise visits made to different Ramazan bazaars, including Ghalib Market, Shadman and Whadat Colony

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Noorul Amin Mengal has announced to distribute certificates among food companies for selling goods on subsidised rates at Ramazan bazaars.

He was speaking during his surprise visits to the different Ramazan bazaars, including Ghalib Market, Shadman and Whadat Colony Ramazan Bazaars on Thursday.

Cash prizes and special appreciation certificates will be given to those companies which will meet the protocols and food standards of the PFA, he said. "I appreciate food industry for cooperating with the authority in order to set up their stalls in makeshift markets."

The director general visited the different stalls and examined the quality of products which were on display for sale. Food safety teams also conducted food tests of carbonated drinks, ketchup, beverages (sharbat) and other products.
