Instagram finally lets you mute accounts

Normally, users would block such accounts but the photo-sharing giant has finally provided a less extreme option

Instagram has finally rolled out a feature that lets you mute certain accounts. Often, the Instagram news feed is full of posts by unwanted users with users left with no option but to block or remove such accounts.

The photo-sharing giant has finally come up with a less extreme option.

“We’re aiming to make feed the best place to share and connect with the people and interests you care about. Mute will be rolling out over the coming weeks,” states the blog post.

You will always have the option to unmute the account and get their posts to appear in your feed again.

Muting the account will not cut users completely off from that account as you will still be able to follow them, see tagged posts and the comments you are tagged in.

In March, Instagram introduced changes to improve browsing to “make it more fresh” and tried to give a better understanding of how the feed works.
