Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) heavyweights Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen got embroiled in a heated argument during a meeting of the party's core group, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Tempers flared when Qureshi reportedly objected to Rai Hassan Nawaz's presence at the meeting. Qureshi expressed reservations over Nawaz's party membership before adding that he had no right to participate in party events after being disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

PTI chairman Imran Khan, who was presiding over the meeting, stepped in to defuse tension as the party veterans engaged in a verbal duel. The meeting went on as planned after Khan settled the matter by removing Nawaz from the party parliamentary board and barring him from holding any party position.
