Football: Tevez takes City to third

“He has a five-year contract and he wants to stay,” said Mancini.

MANCHESTER:

Carlos Tevez scored twice as Manchester City beat Stoke 3-0 to go third in the Premier League and now are in prime position for direct entry into the Champions League if they beat Bolton over the weekend.

Joleon Lescott scored the other goal as City inflicted fresh misery upon Stoke after beating them in the FA Cup final. Tevez’s double-strike left the forward level with Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov at the top of the goal-scoring table.

Meanwhile, an upbeat City manager Roberto Mancini later announced that the striker had no plans of leaving the team. “He has a five-year contract and he wants to stay,” said Mancini. “Carlos is Carlos. He’s a fantastic striker.”
