ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan is expected to become an outsourcing destination by 2020, and is likely to increase IT and ITES exports to the $5-billion mark, after launching strategic initiatives along with tax holiday and capital repatriation incentives for the private sector. There are tremendous opportunities for Pakistan as its IT and ITES-Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) exports are estimated  to have crossed $3 billion already this year.

A ministry official said the ICT sector can become the driver of change and growth in the next few years, if attention is given to software development, software and IT workforce export, support and monitoring. Due to CPEC, the next decade will bring in more opportunities of innovation and growth, transforming the country into a regional hub of trade and commerce, he added. Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication also hoped that expanding ICT accessibility to remote and under-developed parts of the country will also help in achieving social inclusiveness, opening new vistas and source of employment in the country.
