Pakistan, India to play in the UK

Three-match football series to take place next month.

LAHORE:

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has reached an understanding with their Indian counterparts to hold a three-match friendly series in June to make up for the Palestine tour that was indefinitely postponed last week.

The tour to Palestine failed to take place due to the non-issuance of visas from Israeli authorities. Pakistan and Palestine were scheduled to play on May 24 and May 27 in Ramallah in the return-leg of the bilateral series.

“We’ve reached an understanding with the Indian football federation to play a friendly series in the United Kingdom,” PFF Director Marketing Sardar Naveed Haider told The Express Tribune. “Everything has been decided and we are only waiting for the Indian National Congress to advise the Indian officials of the venues and dates.”

The three-match series will serve as practice for Pakistan’s World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh.  The team is also scheduled to play two practice matches with the national teams of Dubai and Qatar after which they plan to arrive in the UK.

Pakistan will play their first qualifier in Dhaka on June 29 while their second qualifier will be in Lahore on July 3.
