The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought reply till June 30 from the federal government along with the presidential record on a petition filed by former president Rafiq Tarar demanding payment of his salaries and pension from December 1, 2001 to September 8, 2000.
Tarar also asked the court to order removal of Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf’s name from the list of former presidents saying that Musharraf was an ‘unlawful’ president. Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed passed the orders after hearing the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, Malik Nawaz. On the previous hearing, the court had issued initial notices to the federation and the Attorney General of Pakistan for further proceedings. Tarar’s counsel said that his client was entitled to receive salaries from December 1, 2001 to September 8, 2008, with a raise of 85 per cent along with arrears of the same period, which he had planned to donate to welfare organisations.
