Activists demand equal rights for all
Seminar held at South Asian Free Media Association to kick start awareness drive named Haqooq-e-Khalq Movement
LAHORE:
Peoples Solidarity Forum (PSF), Women Collective (WC) and Progressive Student Collective (PSC), in collaboration with the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), organised a seminar at South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) office on Friday to kick start an awareness drive named Haqooq-e-Khalq Movement.
Speaking on the occasion, a student activist from PSC Zahid Ali said the state was playing with the constitutional rights that it has promised for the last four to five decades.
He said it was unfortunate that even during these elections, leave previous elections aside, no candidate was campaigning for constitutional rights. “The constitutional rights of the masses, workers and other vulnerable communities, has been absent from high politics,” he said.
Another student activist from PSC, Raza Gilani, said the situation at campus was also grim.
