The former Suits actor's engagement dress caused an uproar amongst the masses earlier, for being more expensive than an average person's annual income. But that's how royal weddings are, aren't they?
Compiled from Harper's Bazaar, here is a list of eight of the most expensive bridal gowns throughout history in ascending order.
1. Queen Elizabeth
She married Prince Philip in 1947. Her bridal dress was designed by a leading British couturier, Normal Hartnell - who was also a regular for the ladies of the Royal family. While the official cost of the dress has not been recorded anywhere, a recreation of the gown was made for the hit TV show The Crown and costed approximately $47, 100.
2. Grace Kelly
American film actor, Grace Kelly tied the knot with Prince Rainer III and became the Princess of Monaco. Her bridal gown was designed by Helen Rose who spent most of her career working with leading American production company, MGM. Kelly's dress is estimated to have cost about $150,000.
3. Princess Diana
The late royalty married Prince Charles in 1981. The couple had two sons together - Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana's bridal ensemble was created by Welsh designer couple Elizabeth and David Emmanuel and cost a whopping $198,000.
4. Queen Rania
Rania al Yassin said her vows to Crown Prince Abdullah of Jordan in 1993, hence, becoming Queen Rania. Her bridal gown was designed by British fashion designer, Bruce Oldfield who also used to design Princess Diana's evening gowns. While there is no official record of how much her bridal dress cost, Queen Rania seems to have reportedly spent about $400,000 on her wardrobe last year.
5. Kate Middleton
The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William made their wedding official in 2011. The couple recently welcomed their third child Prince Louis to siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Middleton's bridal gown was designed by ace fashion designer, Alexander McQueen and was for $514,000.
6. Marie-Chantal Miller
In 1995, Miller tied the knot with Prince Pavlos of Greece. The bride wore a dress designed by Italian designer Valentino which is estimated to have a total bill of $515,270.
7. Princess Dayangku Sarah
Sarah married the crown prince of Brunei, Al Muhtadee Billah Bolkiah in 2004. The princess wore about five outfits for her big day, all designed by local designers. The total amount of her wedding ensembles was about $4 million.
8. Queen Letizia
Queen Letizia tied the knot with Prince Felipe of Spain in 2004. Her wedding dress was designed by Spanish fashion designer Manuel Pertegaz and was the most expensive of all - costing about $8 million.
