Two checkpoints handed over to police
Gora Qabristan checkpoint and the assembly check points have been handed over to the police
PESHAWAR:
Days after several barriers in the cantonment area in Peshawar were torn down, the security forces on Wednesday handed over two check points on the edge of the locality to the district police.
A police official told The Express Tribune that the Gora Qabristan checkpoint and the assembly check points have been handed over to the police. These checkpoints had been manned by army troops since 2009.
“We have deployed 68 policemen at these points and they have been especially instructed to be polite with the general public,” said the official, adding that the army would remain at the posts for two days to oversee a transition.
Two days ago, police had removed security barriers placed outside police stations and other installations on court orders.
