Disrupt metro bus operations near Kalma Chowk

LAHORE: Dozens of clocked the metro bus service near Kalma Chowk for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday.

The demonstration has disrupted metro bus operations, becoming a huge nuisance for the thousands of commuters who use the service to travel throughout the city.

During the demonstration, the protesters chanted slogans in favour of their demands. First, they put forth that all visually impaired individuals be given jobs, second, those working on daily wages be made permanent, and third, they be given raises.

The protesters, who hailed from several districts, had initially gathered outside the Lahore Press Club (LPC) on Saturday and staged a demonstration. However, after authorities did not respond to their demands, the protesters made their way towards Kalma Chowk where they have continued their sit in.



Several officials, including Model Town SP Faisal Shazad, have visited the protesters to convince them to end the protest, but all efforts made in this regard have been futile.

Visually impaired citizens have protested countless times before. In 2014, their issue gained nationwide traction when their rally, headed from Mall Road to LPC, was intercepted by police officials. Police used force in order to stop the rally for VVIP movement.
