Excise officer caught while taking bribe

Citizen submits a complaint in which he states that an employee of excise and taxation

SARGODHA: An excise and taxation officer in Sargodha was caught red-handed when he tried to take bribe on Tuesday.

Officials said a team led by anti-corruption cell of Sargodha arrested accused Iftikhar Hussain when he tried to take Rs4,000 as a bribe from a citizen.

Excise department impounds 113 vehicles

A citizen submitted a complaint in which he stated that an employee of excise and taxation department was recently transferred from Sargodha to Jauharabad and there were certain files that needed to be fed into computer records, they added.

The complainant added he approached Iftikhar Hussain and requested him to upload the data into the computer, but Hussain demanded Rs,4000 as bribe in contrast to his earlier collection of Rs25,000 for a similar task.

While acting on the complaint, the anti-corruption department officials conducted a raid and caught the accused red-handed.
