Three bank robbers busted in Karachi
Eight others taken into custody by paramilitary troops

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi police claimed to have arrested on Tuesday three suspects allegedly involved in bank robberies and other crimes in the city. Meanwhile, Rangers claimed to have arrested eight suspects during ongoing targeted raids.
The arrests were made during separate raids in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Docks localities. According to SIU officials, a suspect, Sarfaraz, was arrested during a raid conducted in DHA. Sarfaraz had joined a private security company in 2013 as a guard with the intention to rob a bank and assisted his comrades in committing a bank robbery at a branch of a private bank on Khayaban-e-Ittehad.
Accompanied by his comrades, he looted over Rs2 million from a bank on March 22, 2013. The SIU officials said that the suspect belonged to a Parachinar Group of bank robbers, while the police also recovered weapons from his possession.
Separately, SIU police on a tip-off conducted a raid in the Docks area and arrested two suspects, Sajjad alias Pathan and Ayub alias Ustad.
Police officials said that the suspects had killed a citizen for offering resistance in a robbery bid last year within the limits of the Napier police station.
Rangers take 20 suspects into custody in raids across city
According to the SIU officials, the suspects belonged to a gang involved in robbing citizens after withdrawing cash from ATMs. Two of their accomplices were imprisoned in connection with the killing of a citizen in the Napier locality. The suspects were also involved in various cases of street crime.
Meanwhile, the paramilitary force arrested at least eight suspected criminals. They also recovered arms, ammunition and drugs from their possession. According to the Rangers spokesperson, the paramilitary troops arrested a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - London, Ashfaq alias Lal, during a raid conducted on a tip-off at the Kalri area of Lyari. The suspect was involved in various cases of crime.

In another raid conducted in Lyari's Kalri area, the Rangers arrested a suspect, Kashif alias Kashu, who belonged to the Zahid Ladla group of Lyari gangsters and was involved in drug peddling in the area.

Six more suspects were arrested during separate raids conducted by the Rangers in New Karachi, Baldia Town, Kalakot and Dhabeji. The suspects arrested were identified as Fahim, Ali Yousuf, Abdur Rehman, Ejaz, Salahuddin and Rizwan Khan.
