Academic body decries victimisation of IIUI professors
FAPUASA says varsity’s admin after whistle-blowers who pointed out irregularities
ISLAMABAD:
A representative body of universities’ academic staff said on Wednesday that the International Islamic University Islamabad administration is victimising two faculty members who had pointed out irregularities in the varsity.
Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) President Prof Kaleemullah Bareach and President Balochistan Dr Fareed Achakzai in a statement condemned president IIUI for what the claimed was victimisation of Dr Shehzad Ashraf and Dr Husnain Naqvi.
Dr Ashrad and Dr Naqvi took to social media to vent their grievances and also wrote to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the state of affairs in the institution, on which, as per FAPUASA, the IIUI administration issued them show-cause notices.
The association said the show-cause notices were served in response to their demands to appoint heads of universities and Higher Education Commission (HEC) on merit and an end to irregularities and corruption, which was the stance of whole FAPUASA.
The media including social, print and electronic are tools for seeking justice.
Furthermore, requesting Chief Justice of Pakistan for taking suo moto action against all such irregularities was a justified demand.
Instead of appreciating them for their brave stance to reform higher education, IIUI is snubbing freedom of speech which is highly condemnable said Dr Bareech.
