Fruit and vegetable prices to be decided on a daily basis

No load-shedding during sehri and iftar, K-E assures commissioner

The price of fruit and vegetables will be strictly enforced during the month of Ramazan. The supply of fruit and vegetables at Sabzi Mandi and other markets will also be ensured during the holy month.

This was decided during a meeting at Commissioner Office on Wednesday. The meeting also decided that prices of fruits and vegetables will be decided on a daily basis in Ramazan and all the deputy commissioners will ensure that the price lists are made public in their respective districts.

Prices of food commodities will be strictly imposed during Ramazan, said Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan. He warned that shopkeepers who sell food items at prices higher than the prescribed rates will be dealt with according to the law.

It was also decided in the meeting that security measures would be taken around mosques and imambargahs during Ramazan. An emergency plan has also been prepared for this purpose. Proper movement of traffic will also be ensured so that people can easily reach their homes before iftar.

K-Electric (K-E) officials assured the commissioner that the power utility would refrain from load-shedding during Ramazan especially in the hours of sehri and iftar. It was also decided that a K-E official would be deployed at all the deputy commissioners' offices to address the power woes of the public.
