CDA okays 100-feet street to link Kuri road

Greenlights hiring of consultants to revise capital’s master plan

ISLAMABAD: The apex decision-making body of the civic authority on Wednesday granted its approval to build a 100-feet-wide road included in the layout plan of the Kuri Agro-Farming Scheme.

The road will provide access to Park View City from the main Kuri road.

This was decided in a meeting of the Capital Development (CDA) policy board at the authority’s headquarters. This was the sixth meeting of the board in 2018.

During its meeting on Wednesday, the CDA board deliberated over 21 agenda items and gave its approval for several projects including the allocation of 245 kanals of land for building 135 married accommodations for the country’s premier intelligence agency. It also allocated Rs868.41 million for the project.

The board also consented to hire consultants for revising the capital’s master plan for the year 2020-40.

The master plan for the capital had been prepared by a Greek firm, Doxiadis, in 1960. It was supposed to be revised every 20 years. However, successive governments never revised the plan which resulted in mushroom growth in the city, particularly in its rural areas.

The CDA board also approved a proposal to declare as vehicular streets while charges were imposed for creating openings in non-vehicular streets, lanes and passages.

A proposal for uniform planning parameters for the construction of medium-height residential apartments in Zone-II, Zone-IV and Zone-V of the capital was also endorsed.

The minimum area requirements in Zone-II and Zone-v for high-rise buildings with lift has been set as 40 kanals while it has been set at 20 kanals in zone-IV. Permission to construct has been capped at 200 kanals.

The board granted its permission to build a 100-feet-wide road as per the approved layout plan of Kuri Agro Farming Scheme for access to Park View City from the arterial Kuri road.

The board also deliberated over a summary submitted by CDA Member Planning and Design (P&D) regarding layout plans in Sector E-11.

However, the CDA board asked for further deliberations over a summary submitted by the P&D Member for amendments in zoning control policy-2007 for Sector E-11.

The board, though, approved a summary for the restoration of plot 34-A in Sector G-9 Markaz.

The policy board also approved a summary for issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for setting up a fuel pump in Khasra, mouza Lohi Bher on the PWD Link Road, in Zone-V. The pump will be set up by Attock Petroleum.

The board also granted its formal approval to set the fee for the CDA Model School.

Additionally, it voted to restore plot 289 in Sector F-10/4.

The board also approved an adjustment in the planning parameters for plot 26-A in Sector G-9 Markaz besides allotting plots for setting up offices for the Competition Commission of Pakistan.
