Price Fixing: DPCC sets new rates for items

District Price Control Committee (DPCC) Jhang has fixed the rates of various daily use commodities in consultation with Anjuman Tajran representatives, shopkeepers and consumer organisations. A DPCC spokesperson said that various brands of ghee will now be available in the open market at Rs168 per kg while the price in Friday markets will be Rs166 per kg. Vegetable oil, rice (super, Karnal basmati), pulses, lentils and chili powder are among other items now placed at a fixed rate. Shopkeepers have been instructed to place a detailed price list outside their stores in this regard. The DPCC said that any customer being overcharged should file a complaint under the consumer protection legislation. He said that the new price lists had been released to ensure relief to customers in the district and that they should help authorities ensure these were followed.
