DERA GHAZI KHAN: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft had to make an emergency landing after one of its engines burst into flames immediately after take-off on Wednesday.

PIA flight PK-585, with a total of 63 passengers on board, took off from the Dera Ghazi Khan International Airport at approximately 2:07pm. Immediately after take-off, one of the ATR’s engines located on the right side of the aircraft burst into flames.

The pilot contacted the control tower in order to request an emergency landing. After getting the go ahead, the plane was safely landed at the airport at 2:12pm. All the passengers, including the five airline personnel on board are safe, revealed the airport manager.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) personnel rushed to the scene. Special engineers were brought in from Karachi to repair the faulty engine, they said.
