The Gilgit-Baltistan government has promoted more than 3,400 teachers in the Education Department, a senior official said.
The Chief Minister approved the summary and now the teachers of the department will be promoted to higher pay scales provided they fulfill the criteria for promotion, Secretary Education Syed Hadi Hussain told APP on Monday.
He said those serving in BS-9 were being promoted to BS-14and teachers of BS-14 would be given BS-16 scales. The formal notifications will be issued from Monday onwards, he added.
Different teachers associations in the region hailed the step and said the promotion of teachers is an encouraging sign for the fraternity.
