The new airport was officially made operational the day before and the conveyor belt broke down on the same day, and the problem is still persisting, according to reports.
The passengers at the airport had to wait in line for a long time to claim their luggage and started climbing onto the conveyor belt to retrieve their belongings.

Earlier, after facing delays for many years and billions of rupees spent, Pakistan’s largest airport – the Islamabad International Airport – was finally completed and inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Originally scheduled to be completed during the era of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government at a cost of Rs32 billion, the airport was completed at a cost of more than Rs105 billion with multiple completion deadlines being revised time and again.
